Remember Egypt

When a stranger sojourns in your land The Lord said, give them a helping and caring hand, Be brave, passionate, caring and strong You shall not do him or her any wrong. When they arrive upon the sand. You shall treat the stranger that resides with you As you would a neighbor with strengths true, You or your ancestors were once strangers here And we didn't treat them with anguish or fear. Righteous and caring things we did do. You shall love the stranger as you love yourself Even if they are needy and have no wealth, In the land of Egypt you once were strangers Where you were met with many trials and dangers. Now, I wish and pray for your good health. When a stranger arrives upon your soil With hate and suffering and pain do not let them toil, And if they come knocking at your door Be kind if they have arrived from a faraway shore, As the Lord believes, don't present them with turmoil.
