Seeking Praise

Must you first get a pat on your back Or maybe a medal or even a plaque, Must you first receive a congratulation or an award Before your help, the needy can afford. You donate a dollar, maybe here and/ or there You then want everyone to give you a thankful prayer, To you it's a sincere victory that you just had won Now you want all to applaud you, for what you had done. The right hand should not know what the left hand did To you and the world it should always be hid, But, you want a parade when you have done some good Whether you're donating money, help or even food. I wonder would you give if there was no one to look I wonder if you would feed the hungry, if no one saw you cook, If no one was there to watch you as you did donate I wonder would you just stand for an audience, and wait. It is good when we help the needy and the poor Especially when we see it as good deed and not as a chore, I now look at you in a confused wondering daze While others seek nothing in return, you always seek praise. , Randy L.
