She Told Me

She told me that she wanted to be my wife But, not for the rest of my life, Just for a little while because she was mad And she wanted to feel appreciated and glad. She then asked me if she could stay with me a while While ending the statement with a beautiful smile. She would stay with me until someone better comes along So, I told her that was all wrong. She then showed be her previously bought wedding dress It was very beautiful I must confess, And for moths she said she kept it hanging in her closet Waiting for the wedding ring deposit. Of course she bought it for another man in mind Someone with who she wanted to be aligned, Someone who smoked and drank and party as she did But, for me doing that, may God forbid. She came and she lived with me for a small bit Never not once did I abuse, or regret, or hit, I treated her the way all women should be treated As a princess and every day with joy she was greeted. Her being with me I was always proud Unto the world that fact I wanted to shout out loud, But, sadly she and I never shared the same feelings And in life we never had the same dealings. Promises she made and those same promises she broke Even the Lord God's name many times she did invoke, Then one day before the crack of dawn She made up her mind and she packed up and was gone. She went to a man who she was passionately waiting for Always there waiting for him at his front door, To be his wife she has swore one day Even when she proposed to him and he said, "no way"! Is she now with him or another man I truly don't know I guess it all depends on the direction the wind does blow, But, I am now happy and I feel the very best But, I wonder if her wedding dress is now in a cedar chest.
