The Chase

I chased and I chased, but she was faster She made me a complete disaster, I thought for sure that we were a match But, the harder I tried, she I could never catch. Her and I once went out to a dinner I thought that I was the champion on the chariot, the winner, But, then when I went to kiss that beautiful face She took off running, and she started a new race. So, I texted and I texted, occasionally she would answer She runs so fast as if she is a prancer, But, now I have decided to give the chase a rest I became the hamster on the wheel, the pest. Everyday I was seemingly on the prowl But, I refused to give up on her, or throw in the proverbial towel, Defeat, or loss daily those thoughts I did refuse Then I went out and I bought me some new running shoes. The run was good, when I ran But, that chase I finally surrendered to says this man, She was the one that I had soulfully desired But, I am now defeated and beat, and I am so tired. Randy L. McClave
