The Same Footsteps

Is your life more precious than my life Just because I don't have a dime, Or maybe because I live with worries and strife Or maybe because I served some time. Just because you make more money than three, Are you saying that you are better than me. Do you really and truly believe and solemnly think Because I always have a bottle in my hand, And that because I'm an alcoholic and that I drink That my life is worth a penny, and yours is worth a grand. So, before I elaborate anymore, I bought my alcohol from your store. Do you really believe that I am a worthless thug Because you always see me doped up and high, Just because I take an illegal drug Do you really don't care if I live or die. Tell me if you have ever walked in my shoes, Then tell me then if my life or death would you choose. Is your life any more precious than his That person who is standing way over there, I don't know where he came from or who he is But, him and all others I do love and care. His life is no more precious than the rich or the poor, And ours is no more precious than his is for sure. Because you're an alcoholic or have an addiction Or maybe not have a penny to your name, Or because you suffered from some form of infliction We are all equal to each other, we are the same. We all have the same sadness and regrets, And if we'd looked behind us we'd see the same footsteps. In the Bible you can read about them, and us all The poor, the drunk and the harlots and the needy, Everyone from Rahab, Noah, Samson and Saul And also about the rich, the powerful and the greedy.
