There Was No Wall

There was no wall way over there As far back as I can remember, At a foundation I tried to stare But, I saw no brick or mud or timber. Over there is where they all once stood But, now their footprints are all gone, Some were bad while some were good On that unforgettable dawn. That is where it all had occurred As the story goes, And that story is of truth and of the word Through the bloody and tattered clothes. Everyone there was allowed to look That of course is why there was no wall, Even when the earth it shook When men cheered and women did bawl. It was over there where he had died I still remember the facts and the story, And as for myself I have cried While thinking of his suffering for the Devil's glory. Way over there once stood a crucifix But, not one, but three, There you will now find only twigs and sticks There was no wall, as God wanted all to see. Randy L. McClave
