Walls

Unto Russia Ronald Reagan made a call He said Mr. Gorbachev tear down your wall, Then all of American's around the world applauded To his statement with support Lady Liberty nodded. I remember when the Berlin Wall was torn down There were cheers and jeers and not one frown, 50,000 people had marched and had protested Finally that wall was taken down and then it was busted. The Berlin Wall prevented the West from having influence on the East And the flow of migrants out of the communist sector deceased, But, then that wall finally fell As the voices and the actions of Americans did prevail. A piece of that wall I have and I keep as a souvenir On my mantle shelf I keep it here, As I was one of the million Americans who cried out and shouted Take down that wall of yours, not once did my beliefs I doubted. Now sadly history seemingly is repeating itself As I look at that fragment of the Berlin Wall on my mantle shelf, Now a U.S President and his followers are complaining with a shout Let's build us a great wall on the south, to keep everyone out.
