Wildlife From My Cottage

I hear the howling no more Nor do I see the deer play as I did before, And the bear prints that were once in the snow Where did they all go; And the birds they no longer soar. I sat in my cottage remembering the past days spent I think, should I pay another months rent, The wildlife they are no longer making a sound They now can't be seen, or even found; Where have they all went. Once with beings the hills were alive and rife Until the animals came across the bullet and the knife, In the quietness my heart became depressed and sad While someone else felt completed, and glad; The silence was the ending of a life. Today I just thought to myself and I cried Unto myself everyone had cheated and lied, None were hungry for food to eat The ending outcome of the wildlife was not the meat; It was only to kill, and then to own their hide.
