Doctors Visit

Going to the doctor
My appointment time was nine
But as is usual
They are running behind
So, I sit here waiting
For the passage of time
It's always nice to know
That time is never mine
Finally they call me
Then I jump for joy
The wait wasn't too long
But still just enough to annoy
They take me to the exam room
Where I get to wait some more
Now I'm wondering exactly what
I'm sitting here waiting for
I'm thinking that I should leave
To avoid any more aggravation
But then I think I should stay
Though leaving is great temptation
Then the doctor walks in
She asks, how is your day
I look at her and smile
What I think is different from what I say
She starts checking me over
When she see's the spot on my neck
She says, I'll do a biopsy
Then, send it to the lab to be checked
Then she says to me
I think I already know the answer
She said, from the looks of it
I do believe it's skin cancer
A week later her suspicions were confirmed
She told me what my options are
I listened very carefully
She added, but it will leave a scar
I told her that didn't matter
I just want it removed
I didn't care the end result
As I now felt subdued
So I thanked her and left her office
Went on my merry way
Knowing now I faced surgery
But that's a poem for another day
