Falling Into Darkness

In the night, studying nature, rose petals falling
into the darkness, being blindly stepped upon as
people stroll by on pathways.
Totally aspiring to become the beautiful roses they
once were, not really recognizing that it will be
impossible.
For they've been severed from the life-giving source
that was keeping them alive, now lying brownly upon
the ground, looking up, being crushed by mankind's
footsteps.
