Summer Joy

Morning air is cool and fragrant with Jasmine.
Rests on the side table an orange Crossandra
Its petals are soft as silk.
A hummingbird comes to buzz over it.
For that exotic bird, my presence is too alarming.
She hovers and hovers above the plant,
But flies away without sipping the nectar.
I almost feel guilty to be sitting there!
Soon eyes turn inward to watch
A tender memory of your,
Rise like steam from the cup.
Is it elixir pouring from my morning tea
