Waiting for the working week to begin Impatience rules The largest quasar cluster has been discovered Four hundred billion light years across Its sunny but cold after a week of rain Morning davvening has been done Breakfast has been accomplished If without full satisfaction Errands delayed must be done The pharmacy first of all A call may come taking me to another work I have a plan of the work I must do The manuscript I must correct And so far have avoided- The week must begin But I am reluctant to begin in it I will walk out now to the pharmacy I will be in the sun I will waste time though a poem might come But when will I really work? Or will I delay? The working week must begin sometime Though I have had many weeks in which I never really have begun- Time is not on my side I am seventy years old Still the sun is shining outside- Whether the week has begun or not I imagine the largest quasar cluster is not any smaller Four hundred billion light years And I will never even journey through one of them- Nonetheless I will soon go out walking to the pharmacy The week in work still not yet begun.
