Her True Beauty To Behold

When at last I found her,
In that vague indifferent cruel land.
I wept her lover's despair,
Sleeping now beneath sad dunes of sand.
For she was gracious and loving,
Her true beauty to behold.
We loved each other with passion,
One to live for and grow old.
But they are distant memories,
Mere glimpses of what should have been.
My duty now to retrieve my lover,
And gently bury her in pasture's green.
