Today I Won't

Today I will sit and sip my coffee. I will be silent. I won't add another line to the poem I'm working with. Instead, I'll watch, and I'll listen to the locution each day is creating. You know, of course, that life is writing new poems daily, everywhere. It's so easy to miss. So, I will stay still for a time, noticing the words passing by in the scent upon the wind. I'll hear the birds speaking rhymes in their own sweet poetic cadence. I'll feel the breath of the sunshine phrasing together, songs of warmth and light. I shall pay attention to creation writing and rewriting everything. I will notice and I will read, all of the pure poetry that is today, is now. I won't write a word today … no, wait … I mustn't stop myself, for I too am part of today's poem, so one word I add, Amen.
