Hansel Tossing Crumbs

Hansel, tossing crumbs To find his way back From the darkened forest Where sweets and treats were plenty He made certain to rewind his steps Threaded between gnarly trees Thick invading vines Woven tight the peering eyes Of crows and ravens watching Hansel, brave beneath his boyish skin With hero heart, into the winding night The soil, foreign but enticing Where none should journey after dark He knew his return would be best If he true remembered where he came from And all which tempted his veering path Would long be forgotten when once back home
