Evening Falling

As evening falls across the land, A lone star takes birth in the lap Of the darkening sky. The valley Falls silent as shepherds are back Home with their flocks of sheep. The stream seems lazy to move, As it gazes at the monster hill Slowly gobbling up the helpless Sun. Restless homeless birds fly Over thick woods asking for Shelter with their relentless chirp. The woods with its incoherent Hisses wards them off towards The frayed nests hanging from Dying palms. Shadows wake up From their day long hypnotic Relaxation to walk the earth- Climbing over walls and roofs. Silence runs thick as darkness Gets thicker across the hearts of Sleeping souls. A cold wind blows The whistle from behind the grove And rushes past the stairs, where Upon lamps are lit, throwing dim Light to the moon as it curiously Watches from behind the branches The listless limbs going dormant In the swinging wooden cots.
