Portrait Of A Fresh Dawn

As the early ray of a mild sun
Slips into my room through a crack
On the door I wake up to chirping of
Birds hopping on the sill signaling break
Of a dawn; upon green leaves
Drops of dew shine like diamonds
One by one slide down to fall on the
Wet grasses or roll down slippery fronds;
Afar, from atop roof of hutment,
Thin columns of smoke whorl up
Skyward and wait for a while to get
Drifted away with silver clouds that stop
To cast a shadow over the groove;
A cold stream, while it flows down
Plains with a lilting tune has in mind
Of a young lass sweet dream already sewn;
Fragrance released from flowers
Lingers to settle long in her tresses;
Portrait of a bird is drawn on the orb of
The sun fulfilling my long cherished wishes.
