Take Me To My Countryside

In the wee hour of the day When the priest in temple begins to pray I come out from my den To give a visit to the country’s plain Beyond the hills the clouds change forms At times they look simple, sometimes strange They seem often ripe and burst and fall Upon the earth with sizes big and small In the stream the ducklings swim When a streak of light begins to gleam With the waves they move up and down Shaking wings they giggle and frown An early bird rushes past the palms To swoop down on vale to pick up worms As the sky begins to appear bright Steady horizon makes a beautiful sight With bending heads trees appear still To greet the sun coming from behind the hill Children from tree tops jump into the pool Before they got ready to run for school A bevy of charming brides with faint smile Toward the well they walk down in a file Giggling and playing wetting dresses Peace reigns thick in their beaming faces Hurtling down as an arrow from the sky A streak of light falls into pond and dies Ah! The cool breeze a little lifts my cap To the sound of my feet the squirrels escape Perched on frond they wag their tails and stare As singing a tune in His praise I sit on a stair His presence can be felt all around From east to west, from the sky to the ground Its time I should return to my concrete cell Leaving this heaven I have to return to the hell My work will keep me busy whole day long Won’t get time to go where I should belong As I turn to go a peacock gives a call From foliages where peace does fall Never, I can’t stay as I have so much to do I would like to return when I have work but a few
