Time Has Moved A Cycle

I said them the house was mine;
The one with the asbestos roof and
With hibiscus plants growing in its yards;
I said I had purchased it from the person
Who used to be the headman of the village;
Now begging in the streets holding a silver pail
And a stick to support his frail body;
I said I got money from my son-
He worked in a software company in USA.
And I said I did not eat for days to save
Money to meet expenditure for his study;
The cycle had moved;
Those who lived in luxury looting
The poor and innocent are begging;
Those who lived in isolation and worked
Hard to make two ends meet are flourishing;
I have not changed
I would not change;
The pain of hunger of the yesteryears
Still brings tears to my eyes.
