A Simple Melody

I am but just a simple melody,
a song that no-one cares to hear or sing -
my notes are born of mediocrity,
without pure tone or giocoso ring.
I live amidst a pile of music scores,
thus languishing abandoned and forgot -
I'll never reach a platform's dizzy heights,
nor slip into a music concert's slot.
So all alone I'll sing my soft refrain,
and hum my tune until the night-time falls -
for I believe my melody excels
and thus will match the Nightingale's sweet calls.
If anyone would care to glance at me,
and seek to find the lovely song composed -
I'm more than just a simple melody,
within, there is a symphony enclosed.
