One has to wonder
Whether it’s fair
That the citizens
Should be heir
Of politicians’ play
On the issues of life.
Caught in the middle
Of their feuding strife.
A government shutdown.
Is it to be?
Or would they soon
Come to agree
In time enough
To avert a stall
That would
Inconvenience all.
