Remembering Thanksgiving Y2k

Altın Yaprak
Despite the freezing-
Wintry storms,
Generous souls
Are proven warm
As grateful hearts
This Thankful Eve,
Are poised to give
And not receive.
Human kindnesses
Suddenly soar
As many embrace
The sick and poor.
Corporations
And bikers clubs—
Joining in
To share some grub.
Turkey. Brown-bags.
Full-course meals.
The sick and homeless—
Meals on wheels.
And tho' uncertainty
Fills the air,
There's joy in knowing
Thanksgiving's near,
When folks unite
To take a part
Of faith renewed
In the human heart.
Perhaps tomorrow,
It'll all go away,
But for the moment,
It's Thanksgiving Day,
As millions respond
This y2k
In a sincere, warm,
And loving way.
