Born in Ireland in March, 1825, William McGonagall was a poet, actor, and weaver. He only published one collection of poems in his lifetime, Poetic Gems (Winter, Duncan & Co., 1890), which he often performed publicly. He died in Edinburgh, Scotland, on September 29, 1902.
