Born in Calandar, Ontario, in the far north of Canada, Adeline Foster was deeply influenced by the poetry of Robert Service who wrote many of his ballads for the Yukon. She spent her early childhood years in New Brunswick with her grandmother. She adopted her grandmother's name as the pen-name for her poetry volumes. She reminisces fondly about the snowdrifts and Northern Lights, after returning to the North-country. Educated near Toronto, in Oshawa, Ontario, she went back to the north as a grammar teacher. Twice widowed, she moved south to Ottawa and then to Hagersville, in southern Ontario, and is now residing in Hagerstown, Maryland, USA. After graduating in 1997 with a degree in Computer Information Services, she is currently teaching poetry.)
