Being Good
A Aniruddha Pathak

Proud thorns to flowers once this said:
Careless hands crush you down, no care,
Yet, as if mute you seem to bear,
Far too timid hast God you made;
But none has messed with us ever.
Look, our life for others is meant,
Said flowers, if you understand,
For others hast dear God us sent,
Everyone here treats us as friend,
Friendly we always find their hand.
Pluck, pick, they play with us like toy,
But that be our life's avowed joy,
See, seeing you they turn away,
May be it's your colour— dull grey,
Life we feel should make someone's day.
And ever since thorns' attitude
Changed, flowers their life's new-found aim—
To save the buds, owning up blame,
From sense of shame to feeling good,
Being good behind villain-hood!
