When first born
A child's hat
Hopefully, being worn
In a loving home
As a youth,
A student's hat
Worn then
And the many years beyond
Suddenly,
The hat of a spouse
Becoming bride or groom
Two, becoming one
With the birth
Of a child,
A parent's hat.
The cycle goes on
