I was born for drifting
like paper tossed in the wind
never staying in one place long.
A couple of nights
might see me stay
and then I am off again
whenever the travelling calls.
However, when I go
please remember me
in case I come back this way
on my travels again.
I have no pets or luggage
and I don't even have a wife.
All I got is what I wear
as I am travelling light.
No car to my name
I hitchhike for a ride.
People can call me
whatever they like
and I only ask one thing of them
please remember me
in case I come this way again.
Home is wherever
my feet take me
and then only
for a night or two.
I have no responsibilities
to tie me down anywhere
I will just go on and on.
Until I can go on no more
and all I ask of you is
please remember me
in case I come this way again.
