Long it may seem Great it may seem That God made but in vain For they were but washed away in one winter rain And looked like wasted kelp along a shore thrown I was caught and floundered in while the water surged on As if to this moment I was waiting for That God had chosen his time and hour For me to talk to you so long as never before And I talked, upon which my aches and agonies whatever I had were lulled and I looked you on and on So close a soul and so precise a conclusion I passed by Like another day
