Lime-Trees

God made a lime-tree grow up in the wild; It bore sweet fruits in scores for one decade; But fate made it victim of white-ants fast; The tree withered and fell onto the ground! God made two other trees sprout on their own; They just began to yield sweet fruits small-sized; We left the rented house for home anew; It made us sad to leave the trees behind! God gave without our asking many things; The human heart turns selfish in life's main; We cannot bear each separation much; Yet, none belongs to us in life's domain. God blesses us with umpteen gifts on earth; Man claims the ownership without much toil; We can't enjoy all things forev'r in life; We have to leave the same to progeny. Why feel for things that don't belong to us? You cannot take a dime when death beckons; Thank God for things enjoyed when He allowed; The old order must give way to the new!
