Those were the golden days - The carefree childhood, When I had plenty of time To stand, sit and watch Little brownie birds - The sparrows - Hopping and playing in the lawn. I loved the way they flew around- So sprightly, chirpy and joyful! They moved about singly or in groups Tip toeing on the window sill, Trip trip - tap tap - on the leafy twigs, Hip hip - hop hop on the grass, Tiny rounded brownie birds, Swinging on tender branches, Beaming, tweeting, flying, Bouncing and dancing in the garden. I loved playing with sparrows around, I am sure they too, loved children, They flitted around the house and the plants Least afraid of the humans or other pets too. When I threw grains or seeds, They merrily gathered together To peck - peck with little sweet sounds; It was a wonderful sight, so memorable! Where are the sparrows now? Sparrows were never strictly tree birds, They loved the brown-brownie earth too, Have they become angry with the humans? They seem to have disappeared! Yet, I still wait for these bubbly sparrows, Hoping and praying that they will come Peep through my balcony garden, To say: "Hello! Good morning!
