I Am Time

I crawl, I creep, I walk, I run. Like an undulating river I rest not and wait for none. Mighty kings bow down to me; penniless paupers look up to me hoping I can create – a change in their destiny. I make bad things cease to happen and all good things come to an end. Soaring like a bird tirelessly has always been my special trend. An all-powerful dictator - omnipresent yet invisible, I’m constantly defying Eternity and etching in your mind memories indelible. Money cannot buy me for I’m a priceless commodity. Power cannot corrupt me as I move towards infinity. Like a river in spate, like a floating helium balloon, I’m always fleeting whether on planet Earth or on the Moon. I’m capable of changing the world’s geography and of creating a nation’s history. I make a solid rock change into smooth sand But remain forever enshrouded in mystery. Like my brother Tide, I do not wait for anyone. To catch up with me, you must always run. From a larva to a butterfly, from an acorn to an oak tree from an embryo to an elephant, I make nothing stay permanently. But I make sure I leave imprints of me in your mind’s calendar. As you embark on your life’s journey, To me you always surrender. You sense me in the ticking of a clock; you sense me in the beating of a heart. Like camphor, I’m known to sublime.
