A Natural Gift

I see bog cotton blowing in the breeze,
It reminds me of my beloved mother,
So fragile but with strong roots
I love her because she was the truth,
The truth of suffering,
The truth of pain,
The truth of her depth of love,
Deeper than any ocean,
Deeper than down to the earth's core.
I remember her reading the daily newspapers,
Her enquiring mind soaking up knowledge,
Soaking up wisdom and it's lingering vapours,
She worked so hard serving up meals of goodness,
Like her sweet nature,
Her love of family was her dream come true,
Love was her natural gift,
To lighten and brighten the day,
Shining on all the darkness
Making it vanish to a place far away,
A place of torment, torture and terrifying too,
Her love was breathtaking in it's depth of vision
Understanding, forgiving and achieving,
She wrapped her arms tightly around her world
Of comfort and contentment,
Her natural gift to lighten the day,
In her own beautiful way.
