I'Ve Tried To Touch You

I've tried to touch you
living far away
thousands of miles
north nor east.
I've tried to touch you
you look as dark as me
though you are white.
I've tried to touch you
in your dreams
though it's not night.
I've tried to touch you
lips so full
your smile so bright.
I tried to touch you
what I touched
was green and light.
