In Nineteen Eighty Nine

I awoke to glorious splendour Blue skies were crystal clear, Sunbeams glistened through the trees In the late autumn of the year. One single rose, elegant and tall, Swayed in the fresh morning air... A pair of white doves had fallen in love Mother nature was never as fair! But suddenly the picture changed As vehicles rushed to and fro, Tranquillity and peace had flown It was hustle bustle - come and go. Young children were misbehaving, There were road drills and aeroplanes, Deafening noises spread far and wide From the roar and rumble of cranes. That was life, as we had to live it, Harsh reality for everyone ~ but A new golden morn soon shone again With the rise of the springtime sun.
