In September 'thirty-nine'
Until the Settlement of Peace
Eighth of May 'forty-five',
The lights were out in Britain
And it seemed an eternity.
Dark days and nights took over
From John O'Groates to Dover Sea.
Victims suffered undeservedly
Throughout the Second World War,
And on this day - eighth of May
Two thousand and ten,
We bow in silence once again.
