Dare we recall the worst day of all?
How dreadful the memory.
Early in summer, nineteen forty-five
When the victim was legendary.
Yes, Hiroshima...how can we forget?
Not whilst we are alive.
Peace with Germany ended our prayer.
How pleasing that memory!
Then an atom bomb crashed with violent rage
Hiroshima's destiny. How can we ever forget
This horror of nuclear history.
'Thousands' were crippled ~ thousands died.
Dare we recall the worst day of all?
No - sad memories will always abide.
