The Deadly Miles

So many long miles, searching for a dream, The miles go on forever, or so it seems. Fighting he elements, in an unknown land, In the blazing sun, chaparral and sand. So many miles, from the land of their birth, Waking each morning, to their own hell on Earth. Robbed, raped, abused, all for their dream, Just to have a part, of a grander scheme. Leaving loved ones, they might not see again, They endure so much suffering, they endure so much pain. Some never make it, they die on the way, With nothing to mark, the spot where they lay. Victims of the smugglers, and the merciless wild, That forgives no woman, no man, and no child. The bodies just lie, on the ground where they fall, Just a few miles north, of the new border wall. And they become prey, for the creatures of the wild, That just see them as food, and their bodies defile. Bones are abundant, skulls always found, Down in south Texas, it's a killing ground. But nobody listens, and nobody cares, It's all a big game, of musical chairs. There's no proposed plan, no solution in sight, They are just like lost souls, seeking the light.
