Let Me Go Back

When I was a kid I often wanted to skip church but my dad made me go. Later I gained a testimony that God lives and Jesus Christ is our Savior. Now that I am old I think it's a sin: I want to go back but they won't let me in! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Poet's notes about the poem: Our local church has been closed since the beginning of the pandemic. Just last week, they started allowing some of the members to return. Half the congregation can come one week, and the other half the next. Social distancing is practiced. Only every other row of the chapel is used for seating. Families sit together but must be at least six feet apart from other families. Those who are ill or over the age of 65 are not invited to attend, so I am one of those who still has to remain at home for the time being.
