Taking The Flame

It's true, I was idealistic when I was young I saw everything in black and white But now, everything's gray and complex I fought for the seals and whales And for justice for all Blame the white man who stole the land From indigenous peoples around the world That's when I was young Now, things are worse The oceans are filled with plastic And HIV is still rampant in Africa Maybe, it's my generation's fault Because we grew up greedy and not caring As people like me matured tired and sad Would be put on Zoloft to hide our disappointment Finding it would be a long time that we would find There's nothing is easy and gave up so soon I hope these future generations would take the flame Challege the status quo of equal pay for equal work Conquering the diseases that kill us everyday And stop the violence against LGBT community that hurts us all As we replant the rainforest that we are destroying By the minute And if we are able, I hope my generation would Smart up And help
