God, Not Being Physical

God, not being physical, makes me wonder, When He made man and woman, did He blunder? Did He perhaps go too far with creation, Should He have harnessed His imagination? He has not flesh nor blood, yet He chose this way To create man.... destined for death and decay, What can He possibly know of man's ordeal..... Our urges to conquer, to kill, and to steal? Should man have been permitted to have free reign To act on all ideas born in his brain? What was God's intent regarding human love, Granting it such power, what was He thinking of? God lacks eyes to see the tears that soak our hands, He cannot smile and tell us He understands When the love we need and crave goes unfulfilled, Or pity us when our pain cannot be stilled. God, not being physical, cannot feel hunger, Nor fathom desires of the old to be younger, No arms has God to hold us close when we cry, Nor to cradle us in comfort as we die, A spirit has no body to press against When the icy chills of winter have commenced, He has not a hand He can warmly extend, Whether it be to a loved one, or a friend, Yet, fighting fierce battles men lose life and limb, Could a spirit care... how can this concern Him? Was God able to fully grasp this concept? His provision for us is somewhat inept, And so we suffer such misery and woe, But God, not being physical, could not know. Forgive me if I stain the air with my words, If they offend you, let them fly like wild birds, But in moments of darkness, do we not all pray And ask why God chose to create us this way?
