I Never Found The One

Today, I bought my favorite wine And a red rose with a long stem; Watching the young girls passing by, I recall when I was one of them There was a time when my young dreams Ran wild and free, with no care; Searching for love, I was confident, As for suitors, I had my fair share The men were handsome, witty and fun, And they all made their bid for me; Strangely, I turned my back to them all, What I wanted I just didn't see But time wouldn't wait, it marched along, With no concern for my destiny; The hills got higher, the rivers, wider, Then heaven abandoned me! As the years moved on, I waited and watched, Now I wonder what I should have done; I believed that fate would bring him to me, But I never found The One And I watch the sun as it slowly descends Ever downward in the Valley of Remorse; Am I destined to suffer the rest of my life For failing to chart my course? Time won't allow me to correct the past, And as I sit alone sipping my wine, I know somewhere there's a lonely man..... A man who should have been mine
