I was laying alone when he suddenly appeared,
He stood at the foot of my bed;
The curtain was parted, the moon shining bright,
Forming a halo 'round his head
His face was aglow with beauty and grace,
But his eyes were hollow and dead;
We stared at each other, neither of us spoke,
He just stood at the foot of my bed
I couldn't tell how much time had passed,
It seemed like hours to me;
I layed there studying his expressionless face,
Then I felt such strong empathy
His eyes were empty, but they spoke to me,
Long ago, the light had burned out;
Nothing in his eyes but darkness now,
But I know what that's about
He was the embodiment of loneliness,
What he needed, I could only guess;
He said 'Lora, please, can I lay with you? '
I extended my arms..... and said yes
I held him close to me all through the night,
He caressed my face and my hair;
I kissed his eyes, and the light returned,
He kissed my lips, love was waiting there
He cried on my pillow as the dawn approached,
He knew his time wasn't long;
I held him so close and I covered his eyes,
But with first light of day..... he was gone
