Missing Button

Eh, today on the walkway Of this pretty town near Seattle My wife lost a unique, colorful button Of an exotic top she bought At some incense-smelling boutique In the Arabian Gulf Prodded by her I set on To search for the missing button Following her doggedly Back the walkway My head bent all along Looking for the precious loss Passers by smiled at me Said ‘Hi' Neither did I hear nor did I see An uncommunicative Indian Conifers and maples on the road side Smiled I didn't see The setting sun, his face down Sunk sulking at the indifferent me A world was lost for a fool Looking for a button That fastened a mortal bosom Like I lost long ago A whole world When a love cast me to the winds And went her way Leaving me trapped Ruminating and ruing a stupid loss Over tear-wet pillows Missing beautiful sunsets Talkative birds, trees and hills All the while Oh, such is life Get up and enjoy ye stupid
