Rolling Your Own

The trails of yesterday
Were rugged and extremely long
Those folks had to be brave
Resilient and strong
The saddle bag sufficient
For just a short time
They’d better have a plan
Perhaps a town they’d find
Of course wagon trains
Took families to the west
Many tough roads to cover
But they had a definite quest
But they made it for the most part
Established newfound land
Their names on a piece of paper
Their liberation was so grand
They didn’t have the markets
To buy whatever they’d need
But there were, of course, places
To buy food and a bag of seeds
They rolled their own cigarettes
So different from nowadays
Hard times for certain
Back in the olden days!
