Never To Roam

The lonely die twice, and the friendless alone;
The wanderer finds him too far from home,
The jilted stay, under grey clouds all day-
So promise now, never to roam.
The abject are forgotten, the forgotten forsworn
To live all their life without love, to adorn;
The lovelorn must swoon, underneath a full moon-
So promise now, never to roam.
The mourners discomfort, the dead unreprieved;
For these and much more, we must soon grieve,
Straight is too narrow, for life's fickle fellows-
So promise now, never to roam.
