A Dirty Little Secret

She would tell me all that her and I would do She would always say just, "me and you", And she told me this when no-one was around As though I was a secret, not being meant to be found. At my house she always enjoyed cooking But, only when no-one else was there looking, She told no-one that I was her lover or even her beau She told me about us, no-one ever needed to know. Proudly I introduced her to everyone that I knew Every Sunday I took her to church and we shared the same pew, My love and my honor in her I could not hide She always gave me joy and warmth and honor and pride. She didn't want any-one to know we held hands and kissed Us being a couple to that assumption she quickly dismissed, Pictures of us together were not ever allowed And we would always walk separately, in a crowd. When we were alone we always shared the same bed Every night alone was as if we had wed, But, when her family spent the night, she was a grouch I was then known as a friend, and I slept on the couch. When I went to her house she didn't know my name I then took all of her hatred and her screams and blame, Upon me she cursed and upon me she viciously pounced But, proudly she always came to my home unannounced. She told me all of the time how much that she loved me But, those are the same thoughts and words of a banshee, I was called her coach, her friend and even her chauffeur But, all that I was, was just a dirty little secret to her.
