An Illegal

I came to this country to be free Now a label they have placed on me, I am an immigrant who they now call illegal I just want to be free like the eagle. They talk about me all of the time And how I committed a great crime, I came to this country with my children and wife To escape worries, stress, and strife. I wanted a better life for all of us And we don't murder, rape, sell drugs or cuss, We've been called filthy and nasty and scum They tell us we should go back to where we came from. My family and I have been called every name in the book Just because how we dress and how we look, They call me Julian, Jesus, Roberto and Juan I wonder whose side God would be on. They tell me I should go back to my country and fight They say and scream that with much delight, I should had stayed and fought for what I believe in We should fight for our rights and rebel until we win. They tell me that I should go back every single day Instead of being a coward and running away, And if I don't return I'm just spineless and afraid But, didn't the founding father's of this country stayed.
