Now I'm Here

I wasn't even a thought When independence from England did occur, For our freedom then, I never fought But, my forefathers were there for her. During the revolutionary war, My forefathers for our country did roar. I wasn't even a dream During the war between the states, No one could hear my battle scream As my great grandfathers fought those dates. In blue my grandfathers were fighting and yellin', As they fought against a rebellion. I wasn't even here During the great war of World War One, But, my grandfathers fought without fear So, democracy would survive and go on. They fought against the Kaiser, Which made our country and world wiser. I wasn't even alive When my father served and fought in World War Two, My dad wasn't even twenty five But, he proudly fought for the red, white and blue. The war for civilization, My dad fought and killed for our great nation. I wasn't even born When my uncles went and fought in Korea, An oath to liberty and justice they had sworn As I had seen and applauded them on the media. They served with pride to the government's satisfaction, They called war a police action. I wasn't just a young boy When my brother was shipped off to Vietnam, Never did I hear his combat story When he was needed by Uncle Sam. Now when I think or hear of that conflict, My family and I get sick. Now I am a grown man Like my forefathers I too love my independence dearly, I will defend the rights of mine the best that I can As I will scream and shout that out patriotically and clearly. Unto my forefathers I know that I am right, So, against the Republicans and the President I will fight. Randy L. McClave
