The Bible

There is a Bible on the church's pew Left by a person that I never knew, That pew is where they once had sat It is where now their Bible is at. I pass it every Wednesday and Sunday When I go to church to worship and pray, I still wonder and think about them As I wonder was it a her or a him. I wonder what their name was When unto God they prayed their love, Maybe their name was Nancy or maybe it was Joe Maybe their name I'm not supposed to know. I wonder how many times that Bible was read And from its pages it's verses were said, And how many times it was passed around As its a tattered cover it is worn and leather bound. On the pew now it just rests Maybe it's been on adventures and many quests, And whenever I now say a prayer I know that the Bible's owner is still there. Randy L. McClave
