You Called Me

When I was suffering you didn't care You never once called or gave me a prayer, You never came knocking at my front door Or ever asked me if I needed anything at the store. You never called just to see how I was doing Or what thoughts or dreams that I might be pursuing, And not once did you ever asked how I was feeling Or even asked me when I was sick and healing. Never not once did you ever call just wanting to talk Never once did you ever visit me just for a walk And never not once did you asked me about my problems at all Never once did you ever make that call. Whenever you needed a ride I happily picked you up Whenever you was thirsty I always filled your cup, And whenever you were hungry you I fed Even from my own dinner plate I gave you my eggs and bread. Whenever you needed a dollar I gave you a loan You swore to me that you'd pay me back to atone, But, that dollar or the next dollar I never ever saw again Promises by you, were just a sin. You were never there for me just as a friend You were never there to comfort or to help my heart mend, The only reason that you ever came over to my home It was because you needed something for me to loan. I never called or bothered you with my problems or debt Because, I didn't want you to be worried or upset, When I called or visited you all of those times as I did It was because my care for you, could not be hid. When I was sick you sometimes came to my castle You came to use or borrow or to hide from a hassle, You never came to visit me just because of your soul That type of care or kindness was never, ever your goal. You didn't care about me, all that you cared about was you And how I could always first help you through Because, whenever you needed help in any form or degree You always called me. Randy L. McClave
